Stop Suicide Stigmas & Support The Bereaved With Kindness

  • Suicide is not a criminal act!  Stop saying "committed suicide" which is insensitive.  Instead say, "died by suicide"
  • Not every suicide is linked to drugs/alcohol. Don't assume!!!
  • The people who appear the happiest can sometimes be struggling the most
  • A person doesn't end their life to die they are only trying to escape tremendous pain & suffering
  • Depression can be invisible & can be hard to diagnose
  • Teens have an underdeveloped brain up until the age of 26 years
  • Teen depression often resembles normal teen behavior
  • You are not to blame!!!
  • Suicide death can be planned or it can be impulsive and unplanned
  • No one should be shamed or judged...especially the loved one whose life has ended
  • Suicide can happen to absolutely anyone!   It does not discriminate!
  • Suicide attempts and deaths are still on the rise...
  • Suicide is tragic and often leaves a trail of trauma and PTSD symptoms with the bereaved family members
  • Suicidal survivors (those left behind) need lots of love and support for years!  Not just the first few months
  • Suicide survivors often feel isolated and alone on this journey
  • Grief lasts an entire lifetime & suicide grief is extremely complex
